Right now four out of five elected members risk losing their FG TD seats & 3 of their 16 Senators only stand a realistic chance of winning a seat at the next general election time. Such is the risk spelled out in an internal secret Fine Gael report, that all out war will be likely privately declared against Sinn Fein by Fine Gael. The results of the secret report helps to explain why Leo Varadkar has come out again this week, reverting to more bitter attacking Sinn Fein in the face even more growing support. Leo hadn’t been so bitter in attack for a while. Now, that appears to have more changed.
.
The Fine Gael leader has now resorted back to old style gutter, muck throwing tactics once again, espousing this time that Sinn Fein is unable to talk at tables (it conveniently went over Leo’s head that Sinn Fein were very good at actual talking previously, to such a degree that even a peace agreement was signed). Fine Gael shenanigans however, don’t end there. Along with Fianna Fail and the Green Party, all three parties of the government are desperately trying to find ways around NOT having to hold a referendum on an upcoming #WHO treaty and later – if they feel they still think they can pull off another stunt – avoid a referendum on joining Ireland into #NATO.
.
Regarding the WHO treaty, consultations have been quietly going on with Stephen Donnelly alongside Fianna Fail people including Willie O’Dea. The aim, to discover how to sidestep a legal constitution requirement – that a referendum vote MUST take place. At present they are looking at trying to convince the Irish public to willingly change Ireland’s constitution so that then later, the three parties at some date, can better legally sidestep a referendum requirement.
.
Also quietly news buried by the government and #RTEcensored, is their informed knowledge that the WHO treaty “poses serious implications” for the sovereignty of Ireland and its further independent ability to self-rule itself. This internal acknowledgement that remains kept secret so far from the mass public, further exposes just how far the parties of the 2020 formed government are willing to go in divest the general public – now existing and into the future – of once held, greater democratic rights. The watering down attempts continue. The three parties are further trying to embark on their more secret agenda without further losing polling numbers that are already at dire low points. Time is not on their side and behind closed Dublin doors, each are getting more desperate.
.
Speaking of desperation, 80% of Fine Gael TD’s are now at risk of losing their seats. Many already know this and subsequently face a dilemma.
* Do they financially costly try run again, only to risk seriously losing – or do they ‘cut and run’ by opting to retire as a TD, take their built-up pensions and perks, while saving face on the way out Dail doors for the last time!
.
The more older, long Dail engrained Fine Gael TD’s will likely opt for face-saving, seeing ahead what will be an all-out brutal battle played out in public against Sinn Fein in particular. It’s expected that Sinn Fein will run at least two, possible three candidates in every constituency. The more older TD’s of Fine Gael will not be up for such a pavement slogging and local media battle. Again, time, age and continuing exposed antics of their own party will fearingly stand against them. Many are now expected not to run again. They know when to call it quits. That time is coming.
.
For them – quietly knowing they won’t run again – means that their ‘gloves will be off’ attacking Sinn Fein, in trying to do their own party an exit favour, in their final elected period. Knowing they are quitting, they will have nothing further to lose. In short, the next general election and now, even before it, things are going to get very nasty from desperate Fine Gael as they on one hand (a) try to win back voters by muck throwing as usual while (b) in contradiction, try to appear as a nice, reasonably behaved party to the public.
.
Fine Gael will of course, be aided in their opposition attacks towards Sinn Fein, by Fianna Fail and the Green Party once again. The latter two are just as desperate giving their own polling rankings. They will unofficially agree not to go too heavy on their current other government party members at election time – but instead, individually and collectively aim their main battle focus at Sinn Fein. The trio Dail cabal will indulge in attacks on other parties but their main target will undoubtedly be at the current top, most high polling current party.
.
It’s expected that such efforts will be once again supported by RTE, Independent and Irish Times journalists who have long-time made clear where their fundamental loyalty consistently rests with. Even local radio stations will play their own part in such sided efforts. With the government parties now each expecting to lose much, to varying degrees, the run-up to the next general election day is going to get very nasty. The three government parties will miss no chance to attack Sinn Fein, by direct open attack or again slyly trying to link them to other ongoing events, past, present or future.
.
Such is their increasing desperation. “Old politics” methodology and dirty tactics, will rise once again in three government parties. Some parties are unwilling to change their deep engrained ways.
