A TD’s BASIC SALARY IS NOW €113,679
– not including vouched expenses, non-vouched expenses, pensions, many perks and much more.

Every time Ireland gets a new government, the new Taoiseach and Tanaiste deputy, gain the power to hand out 160+ jobs with their high wages, high perks and pension attachments. We are talking about €12 million Euros a year, for those they like and put into a position so that their own agendas are then more facilitated by the job awarded. €12 Million a year, for five years, equalling a total of €60+ Million Euro a term for just 160+ jobs. You are going to read further on a breakdown of just some of these positions.

Note that in some cases beyond “usual extras“, a number you will see, might not also include additional perks that incorporate, free travel, free use of state vehicles (cars, with or without drivers, and even plane), transport expenses, distance claims, accommodation expenses (home and away), allowed big annual unvouched expenses, their heating bills expenses, power expenses, actual ‘walking to the Dail‘ expenses (I do not joke – because they might have to park their car somewhere – cost reclaimed off the taxpayer too) and walk a bit to the Dail/Seanad (the hardship), car parking expenses, shoe polish expenses, make-up expenses (Bertie had a whopping 6-figure make-up annual claim for every year he was in high office), free computers, free phones, free tablets, free use of Dail mega costly printer for their own PR stuff, and on and on it goes for which more can be claimed as an necessary expense.

Some extra expenses automatic given – per person – range from €10K to €40K+ – before other expenses – vouched and non-vouched – and be further added on too.

* Bonus: Dail tax free bars, a free gym and two restaurants that serve up at a very subsidised (public paying towards it) price, some very exclusive items including rare and expensive fish/meat that’s imported from all over the world (thanks taxpayers, for that too!).
.

If a TD chooses to have an office presence in his or her own constituency, they can reclaim some of the costs (power, gas, phone bills, phones, other bills, associated) with setting up and running that office. This is called the “Constituency Office Establishment Allowance.” TD’s are entitled to also use part of their home as an office.

Elected can buy a mobile phone and car kit from a provider of their choice and claim back the cost of the equipment to a maximum of €750 in an 18-month period.

.

A Breakdown Of Oireachtas Job Money:

  • Committee Chair – 20. Filler positions for those who don’t make it to “Junior Ministers”. On top of TD wage/perks/pensions + another €10,888 each + more persks that come with extra position (like others). €217,760 a year.

  • Cathaoirleach Seanad – a shared FF/FG awarded royality role – €55,886 yearly extra + usual extras.
  • Leas Cathaoirleach Seanad – when a FF or FG is not doing the Cathaoirleach job, another get extra money for waiting to step in when the switch happens. To keep the person happy, they get an extra €31,965 a year on top of their standard TD pay and standard extras.  Till then, they do nothing but get all the extra bonus pay and perks.
  • Leader of the Seanad – A role last filled by Regina Doherty (who prior campained like Ged Nash, double-standard to actually close the place down).  €25,977 a year extra on top of Td pay + bonus usual extras.
  • Deputy Leader Seanad – Someone willing to step in when the Leader might be temp busy. TD pay top-up €10,888 a year + usual additional extras.

  • Attorney General & Advisor To The AG – AG salary €179,213 + usual extras. For the two roles usual total costs comes to at least €250,000 a year.
  • Chairperson Of Committee On Members Interests Of Seanad – This is an odd one when you think about it. The role is to defend the rights of members, but then at the same time, the bullying whips are trying to undermine their individual democratic voting rights! It’s a hypocrisy filled role. No matter. The gifted person gets €3,553 a year extra for the official title.
  • Government Advisors – a dozy of a role for those that prior kiss-ass or make it clear in their biased media reports, who they are willing to back – so they later gain rewarded roles (as hoped by some). Numbers vary but don’t be shocked to read that around 70 can be hired as “advisors”. Eamon Ryan ended up with around 10 of them alone, to personally serve him. Collective cost annually, around €7,478,476 a year. Yes, €7.5 million approx + usual extras of course.

Here is a sample menu from one Dail restaurant.
.
Prices are in the same range eaters would find at mid-range restaurants. The difference here is that
1. Oireachtas chefs are at Michelin level.
2. They have more staff (why not, the public is paying for them).
3. They can put their bill on a tab if they don’t feel like paying.
4. Rare world imported (at great cost) meats and exotic fish are more wider available for the Dail elite. Their bill – if they pay – is often part taxpayer subsidised too.

.
How relatable again, are the current tenants of the Oireachtas to struggling people outside it’s gates?

The previous media exposed fiasco over TD Timmy Dooley Dail voting  – besides not actually being there – is nothing really new, but you are not meant to know this. For decades TD’s have been officially registered as attending sittings of the Dail when in fact they were not actually there at all, on the day.
.
There still exists a sign-in system at the Dail that allows other TD’s to ‘sign-in’ other TD’s who won’t actually be in attendance on a particular day. Why are they doing this? So that their quota of official attendance numbers is kept up in order to then be able to receive their financial gains.
.
Previously, a state department tried to introduce a clocking in and out system for TD’s. Suddenly there was a quick massive uproar from TD’s who strongly objected to having such an electronic registering system. Can’t be having that! The public through freedom of information rights would be able to see day by day who was more accurately, actually day by day in non-appearance or there for the briefest of minutes. So that system of in/out accountability was not allowed to full come about.
.
TD’s today, can still sign other TD’s in at the Dail even though they won’t be there. What’s more, those that do sign in, also don’t have to sign out. So they can pop in for two minutes, register themselves as been in Dail attendance (thus able to gain their money including traveling expenses, etc), get a quick bite to eat maybe (a number of tax free bars and restaurants to choose from or ‘hit’ the Dail gym) – then disappear off for the day! The situation about Timmy Dooley is far from anything new – but then you’re not supposed to know all this and a lot more besides! TD’s are NOT required to record their hours of attendance and, as such, the times at which TD’s register their attendance is not recorded. The usual media far under-reports (or some, not at all) all this.
.
P.S. Why isn’t any of the usual parties letting the tax paying people know about all this? They each don’t want to ruin something they each are also taking advantage of? They open their mouths, their elected party friends won’t be too impressed. Can’t be rocking that cushy boat! No, the Ceann Comhairle won’t be raising this topic either. Odd that? Heaven forbid you try under FOI access (or lack of it) to see what TD is not paying their own bills! See HERE. Hint – you are not allowed – but if you don’t cough-up for the pressganged RTE licence racket, for something you never use or want, you will get your name in the papers much quicker!

The Dail bars have become something of kept inhouse mystery. Just like “fight club” and it’s number one rule “You don’t talk about fight club” – the Irish Dail bars are treated by TD’s with the same reverance. To be very clear, “There are two main bars on the Leinster House complex, the Members’ Bar and the Visitors’ Bar, while the official Members’ Restaurant also has an impressive wine list.

In the recent past they have had serious questions raised regarding not having an operating licence, operating outside standard legal hours and open when TD’s supposedly Dail voted day and night, sometimes on very important national issues, when possible under influence of alcohol and judged as staggering into chamber or sleeping off their hangovers on government time and in their very Dail seat.

QUOTE: “There have been infamous occasions in the past when alcohol was being served in the Leinster House up to 5.30am. One of these occasions was in July 2013 when the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill was being debated into the very early hours. It was during this night’s debate that the ‘lapgate’ controversy emerged when Cork Fine Gael TD, Tom Barry, hopped his party colleague, TD Aine Collins on his lap in the Dáil chamber at 2.40am.”  LINK

In the past, one female Garda at the Dail even found herself in trouble – reportedly threathened – for doing her duty, when she paused a drunken TD from trying to drive away from the Dail in his intoxicated state. She apparently got told off for stopping the TD, while the TD himself to date has got off legally scott-free for his own behaviour. You try thtreatheing a Garda and see how quick you will be (rightly) charged under criminal laws! One more TD scandal of many, largely unreported by too much silent media. LINK

99.9% of the public will likely never see inside at least one of the Dail bars, and what’s more, the people of Ireland are not even allowed see (officially) what the place even looks like, never mind also seeing who frequents it – never mind that the people of Ireland are paying for the bar, it’s staff and the drink that TD’s have so far, have not clear their bar debts yet! There are old photo’s of one of the bars but even those are way out of date and extremely limited regarding what taxpayers are allowed see. In other words, what the public is paying for, is regardined top secret. The usual parties churn out the usual convenient excuses for this.

It also kept quiet about also a possible tax free status that is reportedly applying to drink that’s purchased within the bars. Additionally true or not, it’s very obvious that one again within the Oireachtas buildings and beyond, there are laws for some Ireland people and not so much for a overpaid, pensioned and perked elite? This is before we also get to the previous Dail drug taking scandal – LINK – that has been subsequently been left to die, go unquestioned and no one daring to ask for random drug testing of Oireachtas TD’s and senators.
