The Fall Of Troy

The resignation of Mr Troy from his position, was enviable. Two separate investigations called for, the matter had to be then quickly shut down.

Previous attempts to try have the matter dropped, failed by Leo and Martin. They likely thought once they had expressed support, the matter would go away. It didn’t. Further questionable details emerged.

1. There was his questionable renting actions including cash payments.
2. Questionable fire safety adherence.
3. Possible conflict of interest Dail activity.
4. The questionable property flipping.
5. The non-disclosure of his full list of properties.

The spin masters would have you believe he was being attacked because it was about “all landlords are evil”. In fact, this is inaccurate. This is an attempted distraction tactic from the real issues where laws were indeed very broken in some cases.

There’s been reports that sudden TD update changes have been made to disclosures, ones already on state record.

The hope is now, that the whole matter will be dropped, with Mr Troy’s resignation. “What more do you want?” could be the cry of government TDs if others still seek justice to be carried out and equally applied – as it is to ordinary citizens!

Let’s be honest here. Mr Troy’s non-disclosure of details, he will be allowed to escape accountability over. Government TDs seen again to be allowed escape prosecution. It’s become standard practice of Fianna Fail and Fine Gael representation. That and the continuation of conflict of interest representation.

It was bad enough that reporters were uncovering questionable matters but two more proposed official investigations (a) might have uncovered more or (b) just as bad, confirmed matters denied as true. Those investigations had to be stopped. It’s likely hoped that a resignation will do this.

If Mr Troy had been investigated over non-disclosure of properties alone, people would have asked about other TDs including Mr Martin, who also previously didn’t full declare own additional owned property for many years. That possible aspect alone, was raising hairs on guilty and alarm bells within party headquarters. Explosive exposure of more TDs would be election time damaging – and the parties are already well damaged enough!

Further ultimate sacrifices therefore had to be made, to stop further investigations. Publicly, a resignation was accepted with regret but privately, there might also be relief and a hope that it’s enough to stop further investigations – and the potential domino falling effect of that.

Even now, as a resignation is given, defiance and distraction tactics might be judged as seen in play.

The 2020 formed government cannot afford to lose any more TD seats so Mr Troy will be allowed to remain as a TD. If an already crime convicted TD can remain as one, it comes as no surprise that other questionable representatives are also allowed remain, if only to help continue prop up a seriously dodgy government, itself full of illegality and acts of double standards.
