An inadept analysis.

Let’s be accurate. The last thing FF and FG want, is Zappone turning up and going on record. A copy of her phone texts showing up? Christ! That gives guilty parties at home, nightmares.

Much has been made out of Simon Coveney phone texts. The few that survived his illegal destruction of evidence.
.
The last thing FF and FG want is Zappone turning up with her fuller version of possible texts. Why? Because those texts are likely to expose just how far lies already told, are further in depth. Her copy of phone texts might expose further acts of cronyism.
.
Therefore, would it be ok to assume that FF and FG are quietly delighted – and relived – that Zappond refuses to turn up for a Dail committee give evidence and her version of events that could contradict Coveney version of events? Absolutely.
.
Necks have been further saved. Huge Dail pay, perks and pensions can continue growing.

Zappone, a person who also knows well how to play the game of politics and money that goes with it, was not likely to grass on her fellow politician friends. After all, they were to do her more previous favours. It’s still possible that later on, for loyalty and current silence, rewards in her future could still be a possibility. Like I said, she knows how to play the game of politics… The long game.

Meanwhile, Harris says he still taking legal advice on being named in the Dail as a possible cabinet table leaker. Here too, politics are being indeed played very carefully.

Regarding Simon Harris, FF/FG and biased media wanting to turn things around on SF. They wish to bypass the action of actual cabinet leaking, deliberately pushing that aside – and try concentrate public attention on SF supposedly, unfounded they say, besmirching a good man!
.
With that agenda in mind for PR reasons, Harris still goes on about the matter and how he is so offended that he sought further legal advice. Now, let’s not fool ourselves here. Simon Harris is well versed in politics and this includes the rules of the Dail, what’s permitted and what’s legal allowed.

In other words, he too knows full well that what was said in the Dail about him, he CANNOT sue the speaker, over. The law states the speakers in the Dail have “Dail privileges”. No ifs or buts. He 100% knows this as does every elected person.

So why is he still droning on about seeking further legal advice? Let’s look at the overall picture.

Top rank of FF/FG do absolutely not want a proper Garda investigation of what the hell is going on around a cabinet table. FF/FG want to keep any decent investigations away from themselves. Why? Draw your own (obvious) conclusion…

If Harris was to even really try drag someone to court, the accused would use all legal means in self-defence, try subpoena records and yes, phone texts of all involved. Even worse for FF/FG, a defence might try subpoena phones and any paper trails that are connected to the unofficial investigation done by FG, to find their cabinet table leaker.
.
Would it be safe to say, such related texts and paper records are now ‘gone’ already? Safe bet. The destruction of them alone, could say and expose a lot.
.
It’s still handy enough if carefully done, to use the matter, to actually throw (distraction) ‘mud’ at others on camera and paper. Just not in an actual courtroom!
.
An elaborate sting operation was put in place by FG people. Hell, one of them for a brief period, was praising the effort and his involvement in it. Now, he too, has gone all too silent on the unofficial leaker investigation. The public (and decent journalists left) are not supposed to have their attention re-drawn back towards that underhand political activity.

So, a defendant facing a legal challenge by Harris, would be within their rights to try gain all relevant material to defend themselves. FF/FG heads know this all too well. A defendant could seek statements from those involved in an unofficial held investigation. FF and FG heads are now more scared? Hell, the name of the leaker might be courtroom confirmed! O’ LORD!!!

It might be safe to assume then that they could want to use the whole matter, to try besmirch SF (who named a possible leaker) while at same time, not wish to push the matter too far down an actual real legal route as this might open a Pandora box for them?
.
So, no. No one will be further held to real courtroom legal account. That’s a can of worms FF and FG want kept closed and covered up.

The government wants this whole matter to die. Today, if possible. There is too much that still might emerge. Stuff that could further expose their self-interest divergences, further party antics and possibly more illegal activities.
.
It being handy that Zappone is in the USA, away from stronger legal accountability and from any future potential subpoenas, suits many back home.

Keeping Harris from actually even trying to sue someone (and thus, also start an official Garda investigation), is something certain top government heads most certainly do want. A legal case instigated, could (a) instigate a more powerful investigation and (b) drag the matter even further on into the future when there’s local and a general election to be won…

“Let’s all move on please?” Sound familiar?

No. FF and FG want desperately to have this whole matter buried while they also try to distract the public and also desperately try use the matter to actually attack their Dail opposition who are now more popular with the present public.

While all this and far more is going on, the Green Party, the party that said it would go into government to keep a check on things, is like Zappone, staying deliberate heads down and deliberate all too quiet.

The ultimate irony. This latest dose of cronyism was over a position of “Freedom of Expression”. More expressions, is the last thing a corrupt government wants!
