In any hour on American TV, there are at least five to eight advert breaks. These breaks are each far longer than what we see on Irish and European TV screens. Watch USA news shows (CNN/Fox News, etc) for example, you will see an advert break at least every ten minutes. Completely safe bet. Every advert break will contain at least one plug for a drug or medical intervention. Most breaks contain two and more such adverts. Within any one hour, the viewer it hit from 10 to 20 adverts about drugs, alone.
Why is this important to Ireland? Ireland has 900+ drug manufacturer companies. At least 450+ of them export to the United States – where the selling and buying of drugs is absolutely a massive business. This cannot be understated. Billions, possibly Trillions of Dollars are there for the grabbing by private interests, corporations, private hospitals, etc. Trump and his oligarch family and business mates (that are funding him) are seriously not amused that these companies, along with others in Europe/Africa, are able to escape paying any tax to the USA government in many ways. Trump himself, wants to bully many companies back to the USA, so that they will make their drugs there – so he and his mates can reap the financial rewards.
A few things to clarify at this point.
1. A drug company just cannot up and go within a minutes notice. Such a move takes months, sometimes over a year, just to organise.
2. Trump as mid-term elections coming up in about 16 months. So, he has to get a “win” for PR purposes, as quickly as possible, to sell to voters.
3. Drug companies like to plan ahead years in advance.
4. A normal presidential term only lasts at best, a full four years. Trump is on his second and likely, last term – despite what he raves about, saying he will try stay longer.
So, the pressure is on Trump to force Ireland companies back to the USA as soon as possible. Incoming are additional tariffs on Irish drug manufactures, in order to bully and intimidate them.
* We know what Trump is up to.
* EU heads know what Trump is up to.
* We all know why!
It’s ultimately about Trump looking after his own bribers – sorry – “money donators” and buyers of his family crypto rackets.
The affect of drug companies closing (being bullied by Trump to move) in Ireland will be devastating. See a news article I shared (HERE) just this morning from the UK “The Guardian” newspaper, for example. Mass unemployment and much that then goes with that afterwards, will push Ireland very closer to recession. This is NOT an under-estimation by professional assessments.
FURTHER CLARITY: Unlike China what has responded more than once to Trump’s greater tariff impositions, the EU has took a more laid back, calm response to the current crises. Rather than apply retaliatory tariffs back on the USA, the EU (including Ireland) has held off, in order to see if an agreement between all involved can be better reached. In the last 48 hours, Trump has make it clear that he is NOT interested in any such agreement. Newspapers have also reported this (see one of my previous posts on this too).
The EU instead, has at best right now, only been more very selective in how they even threaten to apply retaliatory tariffs. Unlike Trump and China, the EU states have stated they will hit back at individual items – rather than the blanket “Hit all” that USA/China are more embarking upon. From an Ireland perspective, this makes more sense. Up till now, if the EU had also applied a blanket retaliatory tariff hike, Trump would have done the same action again in further counter-attack, on EVERYTHING in the EU (again, including on Ireland). We didn’t need our drugs companies hit with a further Trump, second round tariff imposition. So, we held back for a time on too quick lashing back.
Now, in the last 12 hours, Trump has announced – in another round of his antics – that he is now coming after Ireland drug companies too. No matter how the EU has already used better, calmer approaches or not.

Trump is all out for the money. No question. He is all out, to close Ireland companies. He is all out to cause mass unemployment in Irish towns and villages that rely on nearby drug research and creation companies. The companies go, other local businesses die. Housing crises gets much worse. State tax take goes dramatic down. The short version…
What Trump is doing, will possible cause a world economic recession. It WILL hit Ireland hard. No question. It will affect our children and us that have to keep them fed, while trying to keep a roof over their heads. Don’t under-estimate the damage that Trump is about to try further create. It’s all about money – and Trump wants it coming back to the USA and his oligarch mafia. If he has to devastate the rest of the world to make it happen, it looks like he going to try do it.
Now you start to see the bigger picture – if you didn’t see it already – and you should have, to be honest. Ireland people supporting crazy Trump, are being traitors to the very people of Ireland, they say they stand by. Supporting Trump, means such traitors are helping to put a knife in the backs of our own people, small SME’s that can’t take big hits, and local economies.
Trump and his mafia family, plus oligarch bribers, are out to ruin Ireland. The world is now far more definitely heading towards one massive global trade war. We are all going to be hit to some severe degree, because of Trump, his Republican Party and oligarch backed craziness. I take no joy in saying that we all need to “buckle up”. We in Ireland, are in for an unfunny, unentertaining, sore ride care of a very corrupt White House. A sadly further safe bet.

*** UPDATE NOTE: Posted the above in the morning. By evening time, same day, Trump subsequently announced that he’s PAUSING high rates for 90 days, his higher rate of tariffs – while maintaining them all mostly at 10%. He’s putting on a brave face and trying to PR spin things. He was about to announce the drug tariffs on other EU states – but was made to pull pack as too many were giving out to him quietly, as well as publicly. He’s been forced to do this because the markets were going nuts, professionals told him to back off and even his own party people told him to stop. The new tariff for doing business with the USA, is now 10% – which STILL applies to all except China. The 10% rate is still higher than the previous existing 2.5% tariff that long time prior existed for some.
