Some of them catch on eventually. Elected, that is. Already elected are starting to realise they face another public revolt if another household charge is imposed – similar to water charges – in order for RTE to be paid for. No coincidence, they are more worried, especially coming up to their local and general election time. #LE2024 #GE2025

The plan is to impose a new household media charge, one collectable by the Revenue Department. As more people are currently refusing to renew their current TV license or even buy an initial first one, Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are in a “behind closed door panic” hurry to resolve the situation. They already, each face a vote hit with 2024 and 2025 elections coming. Do the wrong thing before then, they know feet’s again on streets, will further hit them badly.

In the meantime, RTE’s financial position is looking critical. December or January is when it really starts to flatline. A bailout, using public money once again, is where Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are heading. So far, the two parties have fingers in their ears when more suggest “pay per view” like other modern TV world services. This suggestion is being totally given the deaf ear, if only because Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael in particular know they need RTE, in order to pulp out their propaganda through supporting programmes and party friendly presenters, to as much mass people as possible on a daily basis.

Making RTE pay per view, would ensure more financial strained people or the more political sharper people, sometimes the same people, would decline an RTE viewing choice as an option. Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael can’t allow that. It would undermine their attempts to dose out their PR to a wider spectrum. So, the public must be pressganged and threatened into paying for their crap. Translated – the public must be pressganged once again into paying for RTE. A product many don’t want or use. How the usual mafia parties bring about their extortion attempts and then dress it up in PR, remains to be seen. As RTE heads towards financial ruin, the mafia style parties know time is running out. RTE’s and possibly theirs!
